We require a Qualified Social worker to join our Adoption and fostering team in South London, As the successful applicant you will need to: • Co-ordinate the indirect post adoption contact service, ensuring that all recording is accurate and up to date. • Provide support to birth parents to enable them to participate in indirect contact, being mindful of any communication difficulties or issues they may have. • Provide support to adoptive parents, including telephone counselling. • Co-ordinate direct contact arrangements between adopted children and their birth families, offering supervision where necessary. • Provide consultation and advice to social work colleagues who are setting up post adoption contact arrangements. • Arrange independent support for birth parents where adoption is the plan for the child. • Assist the Senior Practitioner in developing Adoption Support Services for adoptive families, such as training and support groups, annual celebration etc. • To attend case conferences, review and court as the council representative as appropriate • Assist the Senior Practitioner in developing a resource bank of information for people affected by adoption. • Provide access to records for adopted adults including the preparation of record, counselling and support, taking into account differences of race, culture, gender, sexuality and language. • Provide intermediary services for eligible people separated by adoption. • Undertake assessments of need using the Framework for Assessment, making recommendations in line with the Department`s policies and procedures. • Assist in the development of policies, procedures and publicity materials for the Adoption Support Service. Ensure that these are appropriate for all users with a range of communication and language needs. • Attend case conferences, reviews and Court as the representative of the Department when required. • Any other duties appropriate to the post and grade.
